If you’re new to the Village or are unsure of how the trash pickup program works, we’ve put together a little summary to help you out.
Trash pickup basics
The Village continues to split collection between North Streets (Dark Blue on the calendar) and South Streets (Light Green on the calendar).
- Pickup Time: All garbage and rubbish must be curbside by 7:00 AM on your scheduled day.
- Set Out Time: You can place items at the curb starting at 6:00 PM the night before.
- Containers: Use standard 32-gallon pails with lids. The weight limit for cans, bags, and bundles is 50 lbs.
Recycling Rules
- Blue Bin: Use this only for glass, metal cans, and plastics. Be sure to rinse them first!6666.
- Paper & Cardboard: These do not go in the blue bin. Newspapers should be wrapped in twine or paper bags, and cardboard must be flattened and tied.
- Pizza Boxes: These are considered regular garbage because grease contaminates recyclables.
Special Pickups
- Bulk Items: You are allowed two items of furniture (like a couch or mattress) with every regular garbage pickup9999.
Metal Pickup: Metal items are collected on Fridays, but you must call the Sanitation Department (631-669-4878) by Thursday to schedule it.
