In a message on the Village of Babylon’s Facebook page, Mayor Mary Adams announced that the George Street Dog Park will be shut down sometime “early Spring 2022”.

I do hope everyone is doing well and most important, everyone is healthy. At last evening’s work session on Wednesday, January 19th, 2022, the Village Board considered all the comments and submissions of Village residents regarding the George Street Dog Park. After careful consideration of the matter, the Board voted to close the dog park and to invest and enhance the Locust Avenue Dog Park.

This was a difficult decision but one that was made in response to community concerns. We carry this with us in every decision we make.

The improvements to the Locust Avenue facility will begin in earnest. Once they are complete, the George Street facility will be closed. Anticipated date will be early Spring, 2022.

We are contemplating a host of improvements for the Locust Avenue Dog Park including designated parking stalls, large and small dog runs, dog play equipment and dog waste receptacles.

The Board thanks all the participants of the public session of our meetings for voicing their opinions and concerns.

Very Truly Yours,
Hon. Mary E. Adams, Mayor
Village of Babylon
