In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic many services and institutions in and around Babylon Village and Babylon Town have shut down or modified their operations. A state of emergency has been declared in Babylon Village, Babylon Town, Suffolk County, New York State and on the Federal Level due to the COVID-19 virus. People should be staying home and practicing social distancing as much as possible.

Babylon Village Schools

On Sunday, March 15th, Suffolk County Executive issued an emergency order closing all Suffolk County schools for two weeks starting on Monday, March 16th

Schools will be closed in the district from Monday, March 16th through Thursday, March 19th. Additionally, the district will be temporarily pausing all field trips, before and after school clubs, evening events as well as community use of our indoor facilities. This will be until further notice, effective upon the students’ return next Friday, March 20th. More information is available in our post about Babylon school closings.

Babylon Village Government

The Village of Babylon Highway and Sanitation office will be closed to the public until further notice. All Village services will continue as normal. You may call the Village Highway and Sanitation office at (631) 669-4878 with any questions or concerns.

Additionally, the Village is urging residents to avoid visiting Babylon Village Hall for any non-essential or non-urgent business. Residents should call or utilize online services whenever possible. Babylon Town Government

Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer declared a State of Emergency in the Town of Babylon regarding the ongoing spread of COVID-19. Babylon Town residents are encouraged to avoid visiting any Town facility for any non-essential or non-urgent business, and instead call or utilize online services.

This order will ensure that the Town is able to acquire all items deemed necessary to sanitize its facilities and do its part to prevent the spread of the virus. At this time, we are urging residents to avoid visiting any Town facility for any non-essential or non-urgent business, and instead call or utilize online services. Babylon Animal Shelter

The Babylon Animal shelter is asking residents not to come to the shelter unless you are dropping off a stray dog or plan to leave with a pet. Additionally, do not bring any donations at this time.

Babylon Public Library

The Babylon Public Library will be closed from March 16th through March 23rd. As of now, the budget meeting scheduled for March 24th is still on.

Patrons are asked not to come to the library or use the book drops, as those will be closed as well. Please hold on to your items until the library re-opens. Check the Babylon Public Library website for updates and more information.
