In a letter e-mailed to Village residents this evening, Superintendent of Schools Linda Rozzi announced that, despite the fact that there have been no known cases of Covid-19 in Babylon Schools, schools will be closed in the district from Monday, March 16th through Thursday, March 19th “out of an abundance of caution”. Schools will re-open on Friday the 20th .

Owing to the mild winter, the district has all four of its budgeted “snow days” available, so the rest of the school calendar will be unaffected.

Additionally, the district will be temporarily pausing all field trips, before and after school clubs, evening events as well as community use of our indoor facilities. This will be until further notice, effective upon the students’ return next Friday, March 20th. These include, more specifically, the following activities:

  • Field trips
  • Before school clubs
  • After school clubs
  • School intramurals
  • After school sports practices: JH, JV and Varsity (Section XI has suspended all contests)
  • All evening events that bring large numbers of community members into the schools, including but not limited to the following: musicals, concerts, community assemblies, workshops, etc.
  • Building use of our indoor facilities approved for outside organizations, including but not limited to the following: PTA/SEPTA meetings, scouting clubs, civics organizations, etc.

Extra help, preschool and SCOPE programs will remain open when school is in session.
