Babylon standout Jake Carlock flashed some impressive pro skills last night in the New York Giants first preseason game against their hometown rivals, The New York Jets.

Late in the third quarter, Carlock tipped Jets QB Davis Webb’s a pass, hauled it in and took it all the way back for a touchdown. Later on in the game he recorded a sack on Luke Falk.

In a post-game speech, Giants Head Coach Pat Shurmur singled Carlock out for special praise.

“He’s a team favorite because he’s so tough. When we had all those injuries, those little nagging injuries at the first part of training camp, he took a ton of reps. More than the law allows. He’s tough, tough, tough as nails. The sideline exploded when he scored. It was really a great feeling. He’s a fan favorite on our team after the game.”, Shurmer said.

Carlock, as a Division II player and undrafted free agent, faces an uphill battle to make to team, but last night’s performance makes a strong argument that he belongs there.
