The James Street Players will be putting on a production of the Irving Berlin musical, Annie Get Your Gun. The story is a heavily fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley, a sharpshooter who starred in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, focusing on her romance with sharpshooter Frank Butler.
I feel a little embarrassed that even though I’ve lived in Babylon for some time, I’ve never seen a performance of The James Street Players. I know a lot of us are excited about the new Argyle Theatre, but the James Street players have been putting on shows in Babylon Village for fifty years.
In my defense, their website is not very good their social media presence is fairly nonexistent. This Facebook Page hasn’t been updated since 2013 and this one has only 12 likes.
Anyway, I’ve bought tickets for opening night. Hope to see you there.
