For over two and half years Home In Babylon was a blog about searching for a home in Babylon Village on Long Island, New York. Over that time period we documented everything from open house visits and sold homes to real estate trends and other things that seemed interesting and appropriate.

In November of 2009 we found the house of our dreams, a four bedroom, mid-century cape within walking distance of the Babylon train station. In February of 2010 we closed on the house and thus began the next chapter of our adventure.

The site’s been pretty much in limbo since then, but I keep threatening to start writing again, so keep checking back in case that actually happens.

If you’re looking for a house in our Village, feel free to check out the site archives. There are a couple years of good historical data for you to chew on.

We are Debra and Gary, a couple currently living the dream while slowly renovating a four bedroom, mid-century cape near the heart of Long Island’s Babylon Village. Debra’s a stay at home mom.  Gary works in scientific research and does freelance web design, programming and other geek work on the side. Our daughter, Aurora Jane, was born in October 2008. Gary’s son Ben graduated from high school in 2010.
