Nothing moronic per se about buying a house, Fan. I'll give you $100 for yours, sight unseen. I don't have much respect for those who grossly overpay for a house, however. I think the following quote is attributed to Warren Buffet: "Any asset can be underpriced, overpriced, or fairly priced; it all depends upon the price."

MLSLI has Sep '09 statistics out: Suffolk County Median and Average prices down month-over-month and year-over-year. And the $8,000 federal housing cheese hasn't even expired yet. No wonder the NAR and NAHB lobbyists are scurrying their tails off trying to get it extended.

I do wish Gary & family success in their search.

Sweet! And congratulations!

And as far as moving the mission to be more about goings-on in Babylon, I'd be very into that. You guys see this?

http://thebabylonvillagefountain.blogspot.com

Where was the fountain? I posted a comment, but the moderator has not deemed it comment-worthy, yet. It'd be cool if the pieces really were in Sumpwam's Creek.

And in other news, the Mayor stopped by (with one of the Trustees) this past week. They brought by a big bag of Welcome gifts (potholder from the Fire Department, quarter for the meter, an energy smart light bulb from a local electrician, and a bunch of other goodies). Pretty cool. I read about the Welcoming Committee in the Minutes, and wondered if it ever materialized. It's a nice touch. I hope they keep it up. My friends who live in the city, and even other parts of LI, really can't believe how nice people are here. From the neighbors to the government! They can't decide if I moved to Pleasantville (never saw the movie), Funny Farm (great movie), of the 1950s. Either way, we're very, very happy!

I'm going to look at the Oak St house this coming weekend maybe. It may be on our short list, so I'll have to see.

If anyone else wants to post a report on that house or any other house, they should feel free. I'll even promote it to a post if it's halfway decent.

Glad you're alive. As the quest steps up, I will privately message you if I see something that could work. Hopefully, after closing you'll have a good story to tell about your selection and purchase.

This is a good blog. Maybe some more guests can post about the homes they have viewed.

Good luck. And keep the pictures coming.
